Our golf course in Chiemgau

Until now, the European Golf Association’s (EGA) handicap system provided for six different colours of tees that count towards a player’s handicap: black, white, yellow, blue, red and orange. In 2018, the German Golf Association (DGV) decided to introduce so-called junior tees (‘green’ tees).

The aim of junior tees:

Junior tees are designed to make it easier for beginners and children to take up the game of golf and to play in a handicap-qualifying format. The shortened fairways enable them to reach the green in regulation despite having a shorter driving distance. This allows them to develop an understanding of the game at an early stage and to familiarise themselves with the standard scoring system – birdie, par, bogey, etc. Players can achieve significantly better results from the junior tees, which motivates them and makes the game more enjoyable.

Eligibility: The junior tees may, of course, be used by all beginners and children who hold a course proficiency certificate.

Children without a course access certificate may play from the junior tees on the course if they hold at least the ‘Silver Golf Badge’ and are accompanied by an adult (or older teenager) with a handicap of 36 or better.

Beginners and young children in particular often need more time to play than experienced golfers. This is perfectly normal and should be accepted by more experienced players. Nevertheless, play must continue to flow smoothly. We therefore ask that, where possible, rounds with children who do not hold a golf licence be scheduled from the junior tees at times when the course is not particularly busy. This also relieves the pressure on the children caused by flights coming up behind them, which makes any beginner – including adults – nervous.

Playing with children without a golf licence is therefore generally only permitted at times when no tee times have been booked.
