Behind the name es:senz is the promise to concentrate on the essentials in every dish. Instead of many ingredients, only a few selected components are used, from which the best of their original taste is extracted. True to our motto "Chiemgau Pur", mainly regional products are used for this, naturally in the best organic quality. The 2-Michelin-star gourmet restaurant es:senz in Chiemgau, combines everything the heart desires. Visitors can expect plenty of variety, such as the magnificent Chiemsee, mountains, moorland, sights such as Herrenchiemsee Castle, the hotel's own golf course, lots of relaxation in the Achental SPA and plenty of feel-good ambience in the resort's rooms and suites. EDIP SIGL IS "CHEF OF THE YEAR 2023"

Achental in Chiemgau has been named "Chef of the Year 2023". The award for Chef of the Year in Germany, presented by "Der Große Restaurant & Hotel Guide," was determined during a conference with the guide's responsible staff, inspectors and editors.
"Edip Sigl tinkers with passion, skill, meticulousness and a great wealth of ideas to create dishes that are rooted in the Chiemgau region and yet always push the boundaries of the usual. The interplay of ingredients is characterized by finding the ideal taste and testifies to an absolutely contemporary cuisine at the highest level," said the jury on the selection of Edip Sigl.

Edip Sigl successfully defends his 2 Michelin stars
Chiemgau's only 2-star chef inspires at es:senz in Das Achental. Great is the joy in the resort Das Achental in Grassau: Edip Sigl, chef of the gourmet restaurant es:senz, has successfully defended his 2 stars.
This makes Edip Sigl the only 2-star chef in the Chiemgau region. Yesterday, Sigl was again awarded 2 stars in the 2023 Guide Michelin. "I am very happy about this recognition. It is confirmation for me and my great team that our guests appreciate our passion for the culinary arts and that we are on the right track ", says the 37-year-old and adds with a twinkle in his eye: "At the same time, however, the award also spurs us on to reach for the third star."

DESIREE NIEDER NAMED BEST PATISSIER IN GERMANYdottedlinex

Our Chef Patissière Desiree Nieder secured first place among Chef Patissiers in Germany. The 32-year-old is part of our es:senz team at Das Achental and was presented with the Rolling Pin Award at the Rolling Pin Convention Germany 2023 in Berlin. What is special about this award is that only employees in the catering industry are allowed to vote and, in addition to craftsmanship, the commitment and role model effect of the person in question for the catering industry is also a decision criterion. The Rolling Pin Award is considered the biggest industry award.
Desiree Nieder never fails to delight es:senz guests with her unique sweet surprises. Her chocolates are so creatively designed that you hardly want to eat them. Desiree paints each individual praline by hand. The Kampenwand praline filled with salted caramel, for example, is decorated with the Chiemgau mountain massif at sunset. The artist sculpts the mountains from strudel dough and powders them white - so the dessert creations also reflect Edip Sigl's "Chiemgau Pur" concept and, together with the fine menus in the 2-star gourmet restaurant es:senz, ensure a harmonious overall concept.
